What are Sarasota's barrier islands?

They're the Gulf-front keys just west of the city of Sarasota — principally Longboat Key, Siesta Key, Lido Key (with St. Armands) and Casey Key. Each is its own beach community, connected to the mainland by bridges and causeways, with a mix of condos, canal homes and Gulf-front estates.

Where are these islands located?

Longboat Key runs along the Sarasota–Manatee line; Lido Key and St. Armands are across the Ringling Bridge from downtown Sarasota; Siesta Key is a short causeway south of downtown; and Casey Key stretches south toward Nokomis and Venice. All are within a few minutes of Sarasota's dining, culture and airport.
